I just posted a new big update for this music visualizer. So what's new since the last devlog? Quite a bit, especially since this is the first devlog, even though there were some updates before. :-)

There are many new presets, based on new shaders, new drawers, and even a new type of shader that can be included in presets: (shape) generators. For some examples, see the attached screenshots. This exponentially increases the number of unique visuals you might encounter when venturing into wild mode!

Here's an overview of some recent, important features and improvements:

1) A lot of options can be controlled using an OSC-based protocol (open sound control) over the network (UDP). Two control programs are also available for download (for Windows and Android). If you want to control Ink Blob using other applications (like your DAW or other VJ software), see the included OSC protocol documentation.

2) Textures can be loaded dynamically. Drop your own textures in the included folder, and load them using the controller program (or any other app that supports OSC). Use this to create unique presets live, or show your logo.

3) Webcam input can be used.

4) Spout input and output can be used. Spout is a protocol that allows sharing video streams between applications. Use this to combine Ink Blob with other VJ software.

5) You can create set lists, including only your favorite presets, in the order you need (this is useful for performances).

6) Ink Blob deals better with different aspect ratios now.

7) When playing music files from your computer, you can now queue additional tracks by drag-and-dropping them into the window.

8) Full screen can be toggled with alt+enter.

So is the program done now? In my opinion it's already quite fascinating, powerful, and useful in different settings and setups. However, I still have big plans for it. One important goal is to enable saving and loading user generated presets. In addition, there might be a way to make preset transitions smoother. Both goals will require some puzzling...
